Simpson Strong-Tie MMLUI39 Installation Overview

1. Install nails with a powered nail tool, ensuring face protection and straight installation through the nailing grid.
2. Adjust nail tool pressure to avoid overdriving nails and causing steel dimpling.
3. Place at least one 8d x 1 1/2″ or 10d x 1 1/2″ nail into each nailing grid.
4. Add nails as per the MMLU Installation and Load Table for increased capacity.
5. Ensure minimum vertical spacing of nails in the same grid is 1/2″ without splitting the wood header.
6. Verify MMLU height equals or exceeds 60% of joist height for rotation resistance.
7. Install I-joist web stiffeners or floor truss end vertical webs when side flanges do not support the top flange or chord.
